2022 World Breaking Records and YEN awards

Bionature is very proud that our products have helped to Tim Lamyman to hit even more world breaking records and YEN awards on his Lincolnshire Wolds farm. The 2022 harvest was particularly good for Tim and is testament to his hard work and knowledgeability.

With the support of our product range, he has achieved the following:

    • YEN Gold – Best wheat, rye or triticale yield – 17.6 t/ha
    • YEN Gold – Best winter barley yield – 16.21 t/ha
    • YEN Gold – Best oilseed rape yield (gross output) – 8.98 t/ha
    • YEN Bronze – Best % of potential oilseed rape yield – 83% of 10.8 t/ha
    • Guinness World record 2022 Wheat yield and Barley yield

Our programmes are designed to encourage rooting and tillering early on, therefore setting up the crop for its maximum potential and helping to increase the biomass of the plant.

  • Impressive results in winter wheat with a Bionature program

Impressive results in winter wheat with a Bionature program

There has been yet more good news for Bionature on the Lincolnshire wolds.  Despite the poor growing season we have still managed to impress with four high yielding results from four different varieties.

    We achieved 15 t/ha with Theodore, 14.9 t/ha with Champion, 15.6 t/ha Colosseum and 14.7 t/ha with Garibaldi.

These outstanding results are treated with the full Bionature program.

Initially there are two options for pre-winter applications of Delta K.  For earlier drilled wheats (September to mid-October drilled) an application of 2.5 l/ha of Delta K from the 2 leaf stage is advised, and this is followed by another 2.5 l/ha Delta K from early November.  For later drilled wheats, a single application of Delta K at 5 l/ha is opted for.

In both cases our aim here is to encourage a larger root mass.  An optional application of 1-4-All at 1 l/ha can be added with the pre-winter application for wheats vulnerable to early rusts.

After having loaded the plant for the winter, we return to top up the crop around the T0 timing with 2.5 l/ha of Delta K (and 1 l/ha of 1-4-All if required), continuing to support and sustain the development of a larger root mass and increased number of tillers.

At T1, TipTop is applied to help to increase the number of tillers on the plant and support the plant through stem extension.

T2 sees the application of Xstress at 1 l/ha, helping to maintain the extra tillers and keeping the plant greener for longer.

The final application is at T3 with Xstress at 1 l/ha and CalFlux at 0.25 l/ha, helping with green leaf retention and encourage a higher thousand grain weight.

  • Bionature lead the way in winter barley world record

Bionature lead the way in winter barley world record

Bionature are very proud of the part our products played in helping Tim Lamyman smash the world record in winter barley at the beginning of August, with a yield of 14.2 t/ha at a moisture of 14.92%, beating the old record of 13.8 t/ha.  This was a fantastic achievement for Tim and a true representation of all his hard work throughout the year.

Tim uses Bionature products to his advantage and starts early in the growing stage of the barley.  The first application is Delta K at 2.5 l/ha, which contains a small amount of nitrogen and potassium and is applied from the 2 leaf stage (usually with herbicides and/or insecticides as Delta K can be tank mixed).  This application is designed to target the roots and encourage more fibrous rooting.  It also helps with early tillering of the plant.

Then, around early November another 2.5 l/ha of Delta K is applied, along with 1 l/ha of another product called 1-4-All.  This 1-4-All contains manganese, magnesium, nitrogen, iron and copper and helps to combat the yellowing often seen at this time of year in barley from the cold temperatures.  The crop then goes into the winter months topped up with all the nutrients it needs as plant growth slows down.

As the winter comes to an end and the days start to lengthen, Tim is back into the crop with another application of 2.5 l/ha of Delta K and 1 l/ha of 1-4-All, helping to sustain the tillers and new growth on the plant, for Tim this characteristic is very important when aiming for world records!

At T1, an application of one of our other products called TipTop is applied to the crop.  TipTop is a 20.20.20 formulation with 8 other micro nutrients, allowing the plant to sustain more tillers and therefore creating more biomass.

Next, at T 1.5, Xstress is applied, which has the same base formulation as our 1-4-All (manganese, magnesium, nitrogen, iron and copper), but with the added benefit of an anti-stress mechanism, which allows for green leaf retention in the plant and to sustain a larger biomass.

Finally at the Awns out stage, Tim applies another 1 l/ha of Xstress (for keeping the canopy greener for longer) and 0.5 l/ha of CalFlux, which helps with the thousand grain weight at harvest.

The program is designed to encourage rooting and tillering early on, therefore setting up the crop for its maximum potential and helping to increase the biomass of the plant.

  • Bionature lead the way in oilseed rape yield achievement

Bionature lead the way in oilseed rape yield achievement

Bionature were able to assist in the achievement of a whopping 6.5 t/ha in WOSR, using a mix of hybrid and conventional varieties Acacia and Antigua. The crop was set up to its maximum potentail with Bionature’s own products and grown at our trials farm on the Lincolnshire wolds.

A total of 7.5 l/ha of Delta is applied pre-winter in three split doses from the 2 leaf stage.

This repeat dose application encourages the crop to produce a larger tap root, along with a more fibrous root mass. It also loads the plant up going into the winter with the nutrients it needs.

Early spring, 2.5 l/ha of Delta K is applied to help sustain the increased root mass and encourage branching.

As the plant reaches stem extension, an application of 2 l/ha of TipTop is applied to the crop to sustain the evenly branched plants at this critical development stage, as well as adding biomass to the crop. 0.5 l/ha of CalFlux is also applied to protect the new growth from any frost damage that may occur (2021 had 5 weeks of late frosts that CalFlux helps to protect against).

The final application is at flowering with 1 l/ha Xstress to boost green leaf retention and help maintain extra flower and pod survival. 1 l/ha of CalFlux is also applied to aid with flower and pod survival as well as a uniform size of the pods.

The main aim of this program (as well as the other Bionature programs) is to set the crop up to its maximum potential.
