Windy Ridge Veg Ltd prepare from seed in the autumn of 2012 Cauliflower and the Spouts and then over wintered these under glass. This season the plugs were treated to a solution of 200:1 NHCaDelta nitrogen apart from 2 trays which were removed from the bay. The none Delta treated trays received their normal standard agronomy.
The Delta was applied 12th February 2013 and the pictures were taken on the 25th February. NHCaDelta has produced a robust plant with good strong stems good strong healthy leaves and a root structure that will prepare the plant for transplanting.
The Cauliflower plants have received 200:1 solution of NHCaDelta nitrogen on the 12th February 2013 and these pictures were taken on the 25th Feb 2013. The plants that appear smaller and purple in colour are those trays that were taken out of the bay when Delta was applied. The Delta produces good growth for transplanted plants and has brought the crop on very well.
The trays pictured here are Brussel Spout plants that have been grown from seed in the autumn and over wintered under glass. They were treated to 200:1 solution of NHCa Delta on the 12th February and the picture was taken on the 25th Feb.
The germination generally was less than satisfactory but those plants that have received the Delta nitrogen look much better than those that have not.
Here we see the roots of the plugs. Note that the Delta nitrogen encourages improved cytokinin growth which means we expect better rooting.
This is evident from the picture. the plant on top has great root mas and better, stronger leaves. The plug on the bottom has received normal nutrition but roots are not encouraged to grow as vigorously.
Once again the picture shows the treated plugs on the left produce better rooting and produce a better leaf and stem.
This habit is typical of plants that have received Delta nitrogen.
These pictures were taken on the 6th March 2013 and those Delta treated plants are growing well showing no signs of stress.
Although the germination is poor the issue is that the plants that have received their normal application of 3:1:5 at a standard rate look quite poor compared to those that have received an additional 200:1 dose of NHCaDelta nitrogen.
