World Record Oilseed Rape Yield Achieved with Bionature-Fuelled Nutrition Program
Lincolnshire farmer Tim Lamyman has set a new world record for oilseed rape yield, powered by a cutting-edge nutrition strategy developed in partnership with Bionature.
This remarkable achievement is the culmination of 14 years of focused work refining a targeted foliar nutrition system, with Bionature products playing a central role throughout.
Harvesting an 8-hectare crop of LG Avenger, Lamyman achieved an outstanding yield of 7.52 tonnes per hectare—surpassing the previous unofficial record of 7.2t/ha, set in 2019 by Richard Budd in Kent.
Despite the challenges of an exceptionally dry growing season, the crop at Worlaby Farms showed consistent performance across the farm’s 85 hectares of oilseed rape for the 2024/25 season. Of this, 80% was LG Avenger, sown between September 10 and 20.
Tim Lamyman supports the high vigour of LG Avenger with a robust nutrition strategy built around Bionature UK products, aimed at enhancing plant vitality and soil health. The program starts at the 2–4 leaf stage with Leodita, an organic soil conditioner, and Delta, a stabilised NH₂ nitrogen foliar feed.
“Trials showed that just four days after applying Leodita, biomass was 40–60% higher compared to DAP,” Tim reported. “That advantage continued right through the autumn.”
The foliar nutrition program continues into the autumn and spring, concluding with a calcium-based product at flowering to support seed set. A carefully timed six-spray Bionature program was used, aligned with key growth stages:
– Autumn: Leodita, NHK Delta + TipTop
– Stem extension to flowering: TipTop, X-Stress, and Calflux
The result? A crop reaching over 2 metres in height, yielding up to 8.5t/ha, and averaging 7.52t/ha at 9% moisture and 40% oil content.
This isn’t just a record-breaking yield—it’s proof of what Bionature’s science-led nutrition approach can achieve.
